This new JVC Kaboom is not an Urban Assault 52 watt. This is a large sized Kaboom at best. It's got most features from the early 2000's models but downsized to 40 watts and looks inferior to the Urban Assault.

It obviously has an iPod dock instead of a cassette player. Of course it also plays CD's and CD-R's/RW's. It doesn't get all that load and the downsized speakers really makes a huge difference and not for the better. The bass is not really there it just sounds like crap sometimes.

If you are looking for a large sized, new model boombox then JVC Kaboom is still probably the best one on the market today considering the alternatives. If you are looking to replace your early 2000's Kaboom or other system and it is still in good shape I can't say that I would want to spend this kind of money again.

The JVC Kaboom is back! The new RV-NB50 Kaboom boasts 40 watts of power and retains the original’s general design - a large cylindrical shape with a woofer at each end. Bass enhancement circuitry ensures room-rattling low frequency performance. Digital era upgrades include the iPod dock, which is shielded from the elements by a protective door, and USB Host for playback of music files stored on a USB mass storage device. In addition, there’s a CD player that can handle MP3 and WMA file playback, and an FM tuner. For additional flexibility, there’s a front audio input. A remote control makes it easy to operate while a shoulder strap makes it a cinch to carry.
